Veneers | Desert Smiles | Avondale, AZ

Monday, February 21st, 2011

My name is LeAnn and I had a front tooth that died when I was about 17 years old that need to be replaced. When I had the tooth replaced; I told my dentist that it was too white and as I got older, my other teeth yellowed and my replacement tooth stood out like a neon sign.  With that one tooth the way that it was, I had to hide my smile, which was hard for me because I’m the kind of person that laughs all the time. That one tooth hindered my ability to enjoy myself,  so my husband offered to redo my teeth for me.

I went on the web looking for a dentist in my area and found a website that talked about all the different types of procedures that you could do and at the end of the website, the only recommended dentist listed was Dr. Wilcox. I called him and had veneers put on my teeth.  The procedure was wonderful, I didn’t have any problems, it was very comfortable, everyone was very nice and didn’t have any of the trauma of someone working on your teeth. It was wonderful. I have not had any problems with Desert Smiles Dentistry. After the procedure I have had comments all the time from people anywhere from the teenager behind the fast food counter to a couple that came to our garage sale and they would tell me “your teeth were beautiful, they’re beautiful.”

Monday, February 14th, 2011

My name is Fran Schall and I live in Glindale, AZ.  I have had extensive orthodontic treatments and orthodontic surgeries that eventually led to needing cosmetic surgery. These treatments  included porcelain veneers and replacement of my silver fillings for composite fillings. Dr. Wilcox is one of the most gentle dentists that I have ever experienced. He is very thorough and has never recommended anything that I thought was unnecessary, giving me options and choices that I really liked.

TMJ | Desert Smiles | Phoenix AZ

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010

My name is Virginia S. and I decided to come to Dr. Wilcox because I had  a TMJ problem and I needed to have Full Mouth Reconstruction. I have been phobic of dentistry and when I came to see Dr. Wilcox his smile was very comforting. I am happy with the results.  The results were great and Dr. Wilcox is very patient.

I don’t have to use Sedation Dentistry in order to go to the dentist.  I like it here and I am very satisfied with the results.

I love everything about my results.  Starting off, when I am talking to someone they always make a comment about my teeth!  Not only are they beautiful, but all the work that was done was good. My mouth is functional, healthy, and I have no problems with them.  I don’t even think about the dental appliances in my mouth that are not mine. I think they are mine, and it makes me smile.

I am very happy with Desert Smiles and I want everyone to know how pleasant it is. The atmosphere…. to come here to be well taken care of, you’re not just a number, you’re not just a patient, you are someone that has a need that will be addressed and taken care of. Everyone will be very happy. I love it here. I will not go to any other dentist ever again.  I am going to stay here and so do my children.

Veneers | Desert Smiles | Buckeye AZ

Tuesday, December 7th, 2010

My name is Michael D. and I am from Buckeye, AZ. I’ve been coming to this office for 20 to 25 years.

I had veneers for my top 4 teeth.  Over the years of lifting weights I had worn down my top four teeth, now they are replaced and looking good. I can actually smile again.

What’s good about it is that I am no longer insecure about smiling in front of a camera.  My experience here has been great, they are like family.  I have known all of the girls and Dr. Wilcox for about 25 years now.  Not only are they really professional, but they have grown on me like a family.

General Dentistry | Desert Smiles | Peoria AZ

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

My name is Jeremy and I live in Peoria, AZ and I first met Dr. Wilcox when I was just a few years old as my parents took me to see him when I was just a child. It was General Dental Care when I was growing up: cleanings, preventative care, and general cavities. I recently went in for some cosmetic work.  I was missing two of my adult teeth and I had them bonded originally, over time the bonding had worn off. So, I decided the next best option was to go with a more permanent Porcelain Veneer option. That was in 2002, so it has been over 8 years now.

I get a lot of compliments from people on how natural my teeth look, how white they look, how perfect they look which in my opinion is one of the best comments I could receive. How natural something looks that was unnatural.  I would recommend [this] to anyone that asks. I have referred a few people to Desert Smiles and some of them are patients now.

Need Your Teeth Cleaned in Phoenix?

Friday, October 22nd, 2010
At Desert Smiles, I am one of the hygienists here. I’ve worked for Dr. Wilcox for close to 18 years, and we here at Desert Smiles, we try to incorporate customer service with our clinical expertise. My favorite part of the job is, our patients coming in. They have become part of our dental family, we know about their kids, their family, and their work. I also like to be able to give them comfort while they are here. I inform them of the latest technology and the latest products. Anything to make their visit more comfortable and more productive. I think when we do something that makes a patient happy to be at the dental office, whether its combing their fears, whether it’s a smile makeover, that is one of the greatest benefits of working for Dr. Wilcox. Some of our patients are just so thrilled with their results that they refer patients, they are so happy they are no longer afraid to be at the dental office, and the best thing is when they refer other patients whom we then try to make comfortable also.

Veneers | Desert Smiles | Phoenix AZ

Saturday, October 2nd, 2010

“My name is Casey I live in Buckeye Arizona. I had veneers on the front six teeth. My experience was great, I came in and I had a consultation. I came back in about a week. I got some temporary veneers put on that actually look like the real thing, and tested those out and saw how I liked those temporary veneers. A few weeks later my new veneers came in. I had them put on and haven’t had any problem since. I can actually open my mouth now when I smile rather than keeping my mouth closed. I am always getting compliments on how nice my teeth actually look, no one realizes that they aren’t the “real thing” but it’s great it has helped my self esteem and helped me overall. Even taking family pictures I’m no longer embarassed by the gaps I used to have and the stains I had on my teeth. When someone does finally ask me from my past, that knew how my teeth used to look, I have told them about it.”

Your First Time at the Dentist

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

“For some people who are apprehensive about having their dentistry done…  We have some people who are just so apprehensive they can’t even come into the office or need someone to come with them.  That’s fine, sometimes first visits we only just sit down and talk a little bit, before going into the dental treatment.  If people are so apprehensive that they can’t undergo preliminary looking and a couple of radiographs to see what their problem is whether it be sleep apnea or other situations, that even can be done under sedation dentistry.  We go with whatever pace the person can go at.  As far as the actual process once we are ready to do dentistry, we usually give the patient some medication for the night before.  Just so they sleep better, because often times they are worried about the procedure days in advance and they have trouble sleeping.  It helps to get a good nights sleep the night before so the body is properly rested which helps the body to be sedated.  They will come to the office we will give them some medication here at the office and monitor them with a pulse monitor which manages their blood pressure and heart rate.   It’s always a little unpredictable how much medication someones going to take to get to a comfortable level, so we promise people we aren’t going to start them until they are at that level.  With oral sedation it is a little slower onset then iv or general anesthetic but what we usually do is crush the medication and place it in the tongue, there is lots of blood vessels so it gets picked up pretty quickly.  During the procedure we monitor them and add medication if need be so that they are comfortable throughout the procedure.  And then they will need someone to drive them home, they will be walking on their own when they leave, but their memory.. the medication tends to stay around for a few hours.. so we want someone to take them home and take care of them.”
